Argh, I always find writing this part a little bit cringy however, one of the most important parts of a website for me is finding out who I will be booking or working with. I spend a lot of time reading & 'getting to know' who that person is & if I think we would get along. So, lets get started then, I guess!

I'm Laura, a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Manchester. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I love the idea of capturing a moment or memory which otherwise may be missed. My aim is to tell your unique story through a beautiful portfolio of images. I'm very relaxed in my approach to photography & I love to capture natural, real moments. In some circumstances I may give you a little guidance but on the whole, I stand back & let the occasion happen as it naturally would.

Where it all started

Photography has always been a passion of mine. I remember starting with my dad's old Olympus film cameras (which I still own today!) until one day when I had finally saved up enough pocket money to buy my own from the Argos catalogue (showing my age there!). However, I didn't start my career in photography until more recent years. I actually fell into the world of digital marketing & worked for a few multi national companies - this is actually how I met my new husband.

Fast forward a few years, I've moved from Scotland - did I forget to mention, I'm actually Scottish? - to Leeds & then to Manchester. I now have a husband and we have two amazing children together who certainly keep us on our toes. The arrival of the little people meant that I no longer wanted to work the traditional 9-5. I wanted a job I really loved & that I could work around family life so, Laura Leppan Photography slowly started to take shape. Naturally, I started in family photography and over the few years I have gradually moved into weddings.

Where is it all going?

I love both types of photography & I am so lucky to be able to call this my 'job' however, I am also aware of just how quickly my children are growing. They are still young enough that they want to hang out with me, I'm still a 'cool mum' and I am absolutely taking advantage of that.

For that reason, I really limit the number of bookings I take. Due to the work involved with a wedding, as much as I love them I do limit them to around 15 per year. Lifestyle shoots I am a little more flexible with as these can often happen mid-week. I will also do a select number of mini shoots each year.

What's next? I have loads of ideas including adding short film to the portfolio but at the moment, there is no rush. The main thing for me is that I offer the best customer service I can & my clients are happy. Photographs really are the best memories, when I look back on my family albums I feel so happy & emotional, in a happy way! I would love to make you feel the same.
